Wells of Cambodia

Rotary Club of Mildura Deakin is dedicated to helping build water wells in rural Cambodia.

The Importance of Clean Water

For families in rural Cambodia, access to clean water is essential for survival. Unfortunately, many do not have this basic necessity. Most locals rely on water from ponds, lakes, and rivers for their daily needs. However, this water is often contaminated, leading to diarrhoea and other severe health issues.

The Wells for Cambodia Project

To support the Cambodian people, the Wells for Cambodia – Clean water for all Cambodians project was established. This non-profit, non-political initiative, founded by Norakbun Tin, aims to assist the poorest communities in rural areas of Cambodia.

Wells for Cambodia requires financial support and donations to construct clean water wells for families in need. By doing so, they hope to enhance health, life expectancy, and living conditions within these communities.

Impact of Water Wells

These wells not only provide essential clean water but also create opportunities for families to start small businesses, thereby supporting their livelihoods.

This long-term, sustainable project is designed to improve lives wherever the wells are installed.

The estimated cost for constructing a well is around $600.

Recently, Rotarians Lesley, Neville, and David had the chance to volunteer in Cambodia and witness firsthand the incredible impact these wells have on the community.
