Our club actively supports Rotary Youth Leadership programs such as the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) and Rotary Youth Exchange.
We support youth initiatives that provide young individuals with opportunities that may otherwise never have been available to them. Most recently these have included SuniKids Dream Ltd, Southern Cross Kids Camps and Huxley’s Heroes.
We have been a long-time supporter of the Northern Mallee Leaders program, aligning with their mission to develop community leadership. Many or our club members are proud alumni of this program
Rotary Youth Exchange Program
The Rotary Youth Exchange Program is a life-changing, year-long adventure for high school students aged 15–18, proudly sponsored by Rotary Clubs across the globe. It’s more than just travel – it’s an immersion for young people to experience a new culture, building lifelong friendships, and growing into a true global citizen.
Inbound students
At the Rotary Club of Mildura Deakin, we’ve been welcoming exchange students from around the world for nearly 30 years. From France and Sweden to Brazil and Japan, our club has hosted young people from a diverse range of countries, each bringing their unique stories, perspectives, and energy to our community.
Our inbound students attend Mildura Senior College and experience Australian life through the warmth of their host families, the camaraderie of school friends, and the welcoming spirit of our Rotary Club. It’s a rich, authentic exchange that leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved.
Outbound students
We’re equally proud to support local Sunraysia students as they embark on their own exchange journeys abroad. These young ambassadors dive into new cultures, attend school, live with host families, and often return home with a new language, and a whole new outlook on the world.
Become a Host Family
Host families voluntarily open their homes to exchange students for up to three to four months providing an opportunity for the development of lifetime friendships, to learn a different culture and gain many other rewarding experiences.
- There is no typical family structure to become a host family.
- You do not need to be a Rotarian to be considered as a suitable host family.
- You do need to be a caring and friendly family and provide a home atmosphere.
